Johnny Depp Faces Ten Year Prison Sentence!

Johnny Depp may have to call on his character from “Cry-Baby” for help as he could be facing a ten year prison sentence. In case you missed his role as Cry-Baby Walker, Depp’s character ended up in jail for being a drape (bad boy) and not a square (a good boy). He was pushing license plates and singing…just rent the movie. Anyway, back to his portrayer who may end up in jail for the most ridiculous reason: smuggling his two Yorkies, Boo and Pistol, into Australia. The animal laws are very stringent overseas. as I am sure you can tell, as these are Yorkshire Terriers not wild and crazy animals. In fact, I think that it is quite darling that this is his puppy of choice, just saying.

This is how the tale goes: Depp, 51 has been overseas filming “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” While filming, he sustained a hand injury which led him to fly back to the United States for surgery. When he was set to return to Australia, the actor did not declare his two dogs and were only noticed because they were seen getting groomed. Because they were undeclared by several sources, the Minister of Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce told Depp that he had a little over two days to remove Boo and Pistol from the country or they would be put down. Seriously? Depp made sure to avoid that consequence by getting the dogs on a plane and returning them to California.

So, if you want to bring a pet to Australia, this is the protocol, according to Joyce:

“There is a process if you want to bring animals: you get the permits, they go into quarantine and then you can have them. But if we start letting movie stars—even though they’ve been the Sexiest Man Alive twice—to come into our nation [and break the laws], then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?”

He is still being investigated and it does not look like it will go away in a timely manner which is not fair for Depp or his puppies. He will face ten years in prison or a $265,000 fine. That is quite a difference, if you ask me. I understand that there is a process, but I feel like Australia is going a little bit too far and not because it is Johnny Depp, but just in general. What do you think of all of this?
